The Winner

It was announced at the WES Championship Show that Bob Mayhew (considered father of Western Riding in the UK) made his last appearance as a competitor at the show. When the announcement was made, Bob made a farewell lap of the arena and like a true showman, threw his hat into the appreciative crowd. As a fitting end and as if to demonstrate his talent, he won the WES Championship reining class and rewarded the spectators with a spectacular farewell spin.

My personal favourite freestyle reining entry at the WES Championships. Loved the choice of music and the timing was impeccable.

Here is a small taster of the action from the recent European Paint Horse Championship held in Kreuth Germany. Since 2003 the EPHC has grown to be the largest American Paint Horse Show outside of North America. Including friends and Family, UK PHA had a group of nine at the Show. It was great to see a UK Horse win a medal; Lenas Diamond Rio, ridden by Martin Steck and owned by Sternbergs won the Bronze medal in the Junior Reining Open.!
